From A Humiliating Bet To The Boss He Can’t Have Chapter 13

“But every time, you were the one who suggested testing her first.”

Grant’s phone suddenly buzzed.

It was a screenshot from Lily.

On the screen, Sloane had once boasted in the group chat:

“I took my ex’s exit check and used it as the down payment on my first apartment. Ordinary women are all the same. The only question is whether the price is high enough.”

Grant set the phone on the table.

The room went dead silent.

“So the hundred thousand dollars was your idea, too?” someone asked.

Sloane stared at the screenshot and finally lost control.

“Yes, it was! So what? I couldn’t stand the way Mara acted so spotless!”

Her voice rose sharply.

“She and I came from the same kind of background—no family, no status—so what gave her the right to act like she was above money? I took the shortcut when I had the chance. What was wrong with that? But she refused the check, gave back the ring, and paid back every last cent!”

Her eyes were red as she pointed at Grant.

“And the most ridiculous part is, she left, and you’re still obsessed with her. Why does she get all of your attention?”

No one spoke up for her anymore.

All those so-called acts of protection and tests had finally shown their true colors.

It wasn’t clear-eyed judgment.

It was jealousy.

Grant picked up his phone, transferred ownership of the group to his assistant, then removed Sloane from The Prenup Pool and deleted her from his private chats, one by one.

Sloane stared at him in disbelief.

“Grant, you’re turning on me for Mara?”

“Not for her.”

Grant looked up and said each word distinctly.

“I’m just now seeing how disgusting you are.”
