The Capo’s Daughter Needs No Permission Chapter 19

Instead, Marco posted a screen recording from his own account.

The video began with him opening the group chat.

He tapped into the member list, then scrolled back through the messages.

The entire recording was unedited.

The only members were Vincent, Maria, Marco, and Ava.

I wasn’t there.

My mother left a comment under his post:

*The records are real. I used the education fund money without authorization. This had nothing to do with Romy.*

Ava immediately replied to her comment:

*You were the one who insisted on buying me the bag. Why are you pushing all the blame onto me now?*

A few minutes later, she deleted the comment.

But screenshots had already spread like wildfire through the school forums and the Ferraro Family wives’ chat groups.

Ms. Albright called me.

“I’m fine. The school has seen the full timeline. They know I didn’t ask you to post anything.”

“You’ve done enough, Romy. Save your evidence, and don’t get into a fight with them online.”

“Okay,” I said.

She paused for a few seconds.

“Have you eaten tonight?”

I glanced at the cold piece of bread on my desk.

“Not yet.”

“Go eat,” she said firmly. “Other people’s mistakes aren’t worth starving yourself over.”

I put on my coat and went to a nearby restaurant.

Just as I sat down with a bowl of hot soup, a new email came in.

It was from the Ferraro Family education fund’s managing advisor.

The email contained only one question:

“Please confirm whether the signature used to claim the five-thousand-dollar check was your own.”

I read the sentence twice.

Then I replied:

“No.”
