I Died The Day My Husband’s Girlfriend Did A Magic Trick. Chapter 17

In the other interrogation room, Josephine had stopped crying.

She leaned back in her chair, a faint smile playing on her lips.

“I admit I switched the knife.”

“But I wasn’t the only one involved.”

“Without Caius, I couldn’t have done it.”

“When I sealed the box, he was standing right there.”

“Meredith was banging on the box from the inside. He heard it loud and clear.”

“Not only did he not open it, he told me to seal it faster.”

“Pouring the snakes in afterward was his idea, too.”

“He said Meredith needed to learn her lesson.”

She paused, lifting her wrists to look at the handcuffs.

“You ask if I regret it?”

“I only regret not framing him for it from the beginning.”

“I was with him for three years.”

“A lot of the money he spent on me came from Meredith.”

“He said if he divorced her, he’d lose too much property. He couldn’t stand that.”

“So he needed Meredith to disappear.”

“And I needed a legitimate place by his side.”

“We were each getting what we wanted.”

“The only thing that makes him worse than me is that he always has to pretend he’s innocent.”

The female officer stopped writing and looked at Josephine’s face, a chill running down her spine.

This wasn’t a person who had lost control in a moment of passion.

She had been clear-headed from start to finish.

And the person they had pushed into the darkness together was me.

I had been trapped in that metal box, clawing at the walls with broken fingernails.

And until the very end, no one came to open it.
