“What else could it be? She’s still obsessing over that project.”

“I heard the Sinclair heir is after it, too. Brielle, you don’t seriously think pulling a few all-nighters gives you a chance, do you?”

The flicker of concern on Westley’s face vanished.

He was still standing in front of me, his tone shifting back to the one I despised most.

“Don’t bite off more than you can chew. Do you really think you can keep pushing yourself like this without collapsing?”

Sofia chimed in, “Exactly. You’ll lose the project and your health.”

Slowly, I lifted my head and met Westley’s eyes.

I had fallen for that face more times than I could count.

In that moment, it was the face of a stranger.

All the love, all the dependence I’d once felt, had evaporated.

All that was left was bone-deep exhaustion.

“Are you done?” I asked softly. “Then move.”

“Brielle.” My tone seemed to trigger something in him, and his voice sharpened. “Is that project really so important to you?”

It was an opportunity I had earned with countless sleepless nights and seventeen drafts.
