He Priced Me At A Penny So I Married Another Chapter 23
After Everett read the screenshot, he sat up straight.
“I’ll call a lawyer.”
His hand had already gone to the phone on the nightstand, but then he stopped.
“Or is there something else you want to do first?”
In the past, whenever someone asked what I wanted to do, the answer had usually already been prepared for me.
Derek told me to wait until we got home. Mrs. Lawson told me to replace the torn corner of the quilt. Tori told me to sell myself into the megaphone.
I zoomed in on the screenshot and looked closely at the location listed under the preview.
The event organizer had commented under the post, telling Tori to delete the video. Tori hadn’t responded. She’d only pinned the comment and let people speculate about whether the organizers had something to hide.
I threw back the quilt, got out of bed, and opened my laptop.
“First, let’s find everything else she’s ever posted.”
That night, we didn’t add a single comment to Tori’s post.
I saved the videos she filmed in the park and found the chat logs she had made public afterward. In them were Derek’s instructions to prepare the poster, along with her own reply saying one cent was too much.
Derek’s apology video was still there. Looking straight into the camera, he admitted that he had handed my photo to Tori and that he had held my wrist while the scissors ripped the quilt.
Mark’s video from the train was still up, too. In the full footage, Derek’s call was on speaker. He was ordering me to get off at the next station, worried about what other people would think of him.
I had never watched any of it all the way through before.
When the video reached the part where I bent over in the park, clutching the torn corner of the quilt, my fingers still went cold.
Everett didn’t close the laptop for me.
