Tit For Tat Chapter 05
That afternoon, Sloane posted an apology.
It read:
“I offer my sincere apology for using inappropriate humor at a private gathering, which caused distress to Evelyn and others involved. The webpage has been deleted, and I hope everyone will stop spreading it. “
No mention of the 327 recipients.
No mention of the private album.
No mention of the word “return” or the poll.
And certainly no mention of the secretly recorded video.
She reframed a deliberate broadcast as a “private gathering” and the continued fallout as “everyone spreading it,” as if she’d made one careless joke and I simply couldn’t take it.
In the comments, a group of our mutual friends quickly rushed to her defense.
“Who hasn’t made a bad joke? “
“She already apologized. Some people need to stop trying to ruin a young woman’s career. “
“The wedding’s off. What more do you want? “
I didn’t argue with her.
I had our legal team release a fact sheet, with all private information redacted.
It contained only four points:
- The email was sent from the official engagement website’s primary account to 327 guests.
- The webpage used photos taken from a private, shared album whose permissions did not include public distribution.
- Backend logs show two separate send confirmations, with the primary account selecting “Continue” both times.
- The content has resulted in the suspension of the project’s loan review. All original records have been preserved by an independent forensic firm.
I didn’t disclose the mocking words used against me.
I didn’t release anyone’s email address.
The facts were enough.
