Sienna lifted a foot to step inside.
Gabriel instinctively blocked the doorway.
“We had an agreement. You don’t come here. You don’t ever let Margot see you.”
Sienna froze.
“She’s already gone, and I still can’t come in?”
“Besides, I’m not the one who broke the rules. She is. She’s the one who showed up.”
“If she’d just stuck to the arrangement and only visited her parents at Christmas, none of this would have happened.”
Gabriel didn’t move.
Sienna’s voice cracked with indignation. She had believed she mattered more than Margot now, especially carrying his child.
Tears spilled down her cheeks.
“I’m standing out here, pregnant. You won’t even let me come inside and sit down for a minute?”
Gabriel’s patience snapped.
“Stop using the baby. Margot just lost our child.”
“If you hadn’t suddenly cried out that your stomach hurt, maybe I would have taken her to the hospital first.”
He saw it again: the dark stain of blood on Margot’s jeans.
Sienna clutched her stomach and started to sob.
