He Left Me Broken Now He Wants Me Back Chapter 31

Mia sat beside her lawyer, silent for a long, damning moment.

“Yes.”

“And you were aware that the third clip documented a criminal assault that had already been reported to the police?”

Her lawyer shot to his feet.

“My client is not required to answer that question.”

But it was too late.

That one word was enough. Everyone in the room understood.

She had watched it all.

When we came out of the courthouse, a wall of reporters was waiting.

Someone shoved a microphone in my face.

“Olivia, will you accept a public apology from Mia?”

“She hasn’t offered one.”

“Do you think she targeted you because of Rowan?”

I looked directly at the microphone.

“My work, the theater’s contract, and the footage she recorded without consent have nothing to do with anyone’s private feelings.”

“I’m only interested in discussing the verifiable facts.”

Then Jenna and I pushed through the crowd and got into our car.

Rowan hadn’t come to court.

He had simply submitted the full investment contract and a written statement, exactly as I’d asked.

There wasn’t a single line in it defending me.

The contract spoke for itself.

That night, the media platform deleted the article and published a formal correction. The theater that had paused our partnership also emailed, expressing their hope to restore the original performance schedule.

Jenna hugged her laptop and cried for a solid five minutes before looking up at me, her eyes red.

“Why aren’t you crying?”

“Why would I cry?”

“We won.”

I shut off my phone, which was still buzzing nonstop with new messages.

“Not yet.”

Mia’s lawyer had just sent a settlement offer.

She was willing to apologize privately, on the condition that the settlement remain confidential.

I typed a single word in the reply box.

*No.*

The facts she had publicly distorted deserved to be publicly corrected.
