His Jealousy Sent Me Straight To The Ivy League Chapter 10

When I got home, I called my mom.

“Mom, that special Princeton research program—you signed the form for me last year, right?”

There was a pause on the other end of the line.

“The counselor told you? I didn’t want to affect your other applications when nothing was certain, so I didn’t say anything.”

“I got an admission offer.”

“What?” Her voice shot up. “Really?”

“Yeah. Princeton and MIT both did. I chose Princeton.”

She went quiet for two seconds.

Then I heard her start to cry.

Then laugh.

“I knew you could do it—”

“Mom,” I cut in, “there’s something else. Someone changed my college applications.”

She stopped immediately.

“What do you mean?”

“The Emory, Duke, and Vanderbilt applications I filled out were all deleted. Someone replaced them with Harvard, Yale, and Princeton.”

“Who did it?”

“I’m still confirming.”

“Call the police.”

“Mom—”

“Call the police, Inez.”

Her voice had gone cold in an instant, all the previous emotion gone.

“This isn’t a small thing. Today someone changes your applications, tomorrow it’ll be something else. You need to get to the bottom of this.”

I held the phone in silence for a moment.

“I know.”

At seven that evening, Mallory burst into my house.

“Inez, did you see the senior Discord? Everyone’s talking about you.”

She shoved her phone in my face.

Ms. Davison had posted:

“Congratulations to Inez Reyes on her full-scholarship admission to Princeton University. You’ve made Northgate proud.”

Dozens of replies were already underneath.

Some people congratulated me.

Some were shocked.

And some had started asking questions:

“Wasn’t her SAT only a 1520?”

“How did Princeton contact her this early?”

“What program is this?”

“Did her family donate a building or something…?”

Talia had posted, too.

“Wow, that’s amazing, congrats Inez!”

Conrad had said nothing.

Not one word from him in the entire thread.
