His Jealousy Sent Me Straight To The Ivy League Chapter 05
I didn’t nod, and I didn’t shake my head.
Mallory sat there for a long moment before asking, “So what are you going to do?”
“I’m going to school tomorrow. First, I’ll see if the counselor can do anything.”
“But what if she can’t? With your scores, you could still get into a good school through rolling admission.”
“Those schools don’t have the program I want.”
I cut her off.
I had already looked.
For the southern schools with the major I wanted, the regular application deadlines had all passed.
If my applications couldn’t be restored, I only had two options left.
Go to a school I had never planned on.
Or take a year off.
The second option was exactly what Conrad wanted.
Mallory moved to sit beside me and took my hand.
“I’ll go with you to talk to the counselor tomorrow.”
“Okay.”
By the time she left, it was already nine o’clock.
I sat down at my desk and opened the source code for the anonymous system.
One night, one week—whatever it took.
I had to decrypt the student ID digits behind that account.
It was the only direct lead I could get.
At four-thirty in the morning, the program finished running.
Four digits appeared on the screen.
They were an exact match for the last four digits of Conrad’s student ID.
I saved a screenshot of the page, then leaned back in my chair and slowly let out a breath.
My phone suddenly lit up.
A message from the college counselor.
“Inez, please stay after the ceremony tomorrow. There’s something regarding your admission status that I need to discuss with you in person.”
Admission status?
The deadline had only closed last night. What admission status could there possibly be?
I was about to reply when another message came in.
From Conrad.
4:37 a.m.
“Inez, remember to wear something nice to the ceremony tomorrow. Everyone’s taking graduation pictures.”
Then another line.
“Oh, and Talia says she wants you to keep helping her with rolling admission interviews this summer. Can you?”
