The Girl He Sold Returned As The King’s Mate Chapter 14
Elliot ordered the Royal Justice Office to proceed with prosecution.
Adrian was taken into custody by the Guard on the spot. Both his Royal Academy standing and his candidacy for royal appointment were frozen.
Isla was also placed under monitored residence, pending charges of witness tampering and obstruction of justice.
Outside the chamber, the protesters were still waiting.
The councilor for appointments personally went to the media area and gave a public summary of the evidence.
At first, the crowd was in disbelief.
Then the ten observer representatives emerged from the Royal Castle.
One student tore up the petition banner he himself had written.
“We vouched for his essays.”
“But we never asked where his first tuition payment came from.”
Some people still muttered that thirteen was young, that a youthful mistake shouldn’t ruin a man’s entire life.
Someone nearby shot back, “What about nine-year-old Evelyn?”
“Was her life allowed to be ruined?”
The Academy student who had organized the petition drive stepped in front of the reporters.
He admitted that all the claims in the petition—that Adrian was honest, responsible, a protector of the weak—had come from Adrian’s own carefully crafted persona. No one had bothered to go to Riverbend to verify a single claim.
Adrian often bought textbooks for poorer classmates, which had made everyone eager to believe him.
When the student finished speaking, he transferred the scholarship funds he had previously received into an account overseen by the Royal Justice Office.
