He Chose Her On Our Wedding Night So I Took Everything Chapter 20

Eric had never once mentioned that detail.

“Wyatt.”

I looked at him.

“Thank you.”

He shook his head.

“Don’t let this change how you see me. I was still wrong last time. I’m the one who should be apologizing.”

“Whatever pace you want to set for getting to know me, that’s the pace I’ll follow.”

I took the paper bag from his hand.

“Come by the office tomorrow afternoon. For coffee.”

His eyes lit up, but he didn’t agree right away.

“Will it interfere with your work?”

“I’ll make time.”

I turned to head back to the café. After a few steps, I glanced over my shoulder.

“And bring two extra cinnamon rolls.”

Epilogue

Later, Madison and Eric had a spectacular falling out.

She posted screenshots of their private chats on Instagram and X, including messages where the Hawthorne family pressured Eric to legalize the marriage quickly so they could lock in the Carrington partnership.

When she finally left, she took several valuable items from the Hawthorne house with her.

When Eric discovered the theft, he called the police.

Around the same time, Hawthorne Apparel was hit with a flood of quality complaints. Independent testing revealed that several batches of fabric did not match their declared composition, and a number of consumers developed rashes after wearing the clothes.

The state consumer protection agency and the federal Consumer Product Safety Commission launched an investigation. They found evidence that some testing documents may have been altered and referred the case to their fraud divisions.

Eric was so busy trying to pin the blame on Madison that he was caught completely off guard when investigators came asking him about company records and approval logs.
