He Chose Her On Our Wedding Night So I Took Everything Chapter 24

Eric glanced at his father.

His father nodded.

“Of course.”

I pressed play.

Madison’s voice filled the quiet room.

“The only reason Eric’s father wanted this wedding was for your family’s money. He doesn’t want *you* at all.”

Then came the audio of her ordering the movers to put down my suitcases, claiming my personal property was part of the “marriage arrangement.”

Eric’s sharp command for the movers to put everything down was recorded just as clearly.

I turned off the audio.

“The original video files, the moving company’s work orders, the inventory lists, and the payment records are all in the custody of our counsel.”

“If the marriage had nothing to do with resources, then why did both the Hawthorne family and Madison seem to believe that a simple ceremony gave them the right to my property and Carrington’s business?”

Eric immediately interjected, “That was just Maddie talking nonsense. She doesn’t speak for my father.”

“But you were standing right there.”

I looked at him.

“You didn’t correct her. You just told me to leave my things behind.”

A phone notification pinged from the back of the room.

Someone had found the chat records Madison had posted online.

The messages showing the Hawthorne family urging Eric to legalize the marriage so the business deal could move forward were now being passed around the room, all dated from before the wedding.

Eric’s father whipped his head around to face him.

“Why are those things still online?”

Eric’s face had gone ashen.

“Madison took them out of context.”

“So the chats are real?”

The moderator’s question stopped him cold.

He didn’t answer.

After the meeting, the association declined to support the Hawthorne family’s claims, ruling only that both parties should proceed according to their contracts and the results of the ongoing investigations.

Eric chased me to the elevator.

“Elodie, did you really have to humiliate me in front of everyone?”

I pressed the close-door button.

“Every word in that recording came out of your own mouths.”

Just before the doors slid shut, I saw his father throw the demand letter at his chest.
