He Chose Her On Our Wedding Night So I Took Everything Chapter 31

After that dinner, Wyatt and I started dating. For real.

There were no floral arches, no cheering crowds.

He always checked my schedule before making a reservation.

If I was swamped with work and had to cancel at the last minute, he didn’t show up at my office with a guilt-trip gift. He just deleted the restaurant from his calendar and asked if the following week might work instead.

Once, Baker Reed was preparing to bid for the role of standing outside counsel for our new brand.

When Wyatt saw his own name on the list of potential partners, he called me that night.

“If the firm submits a proposal, I’ll recuse myself from the selection process. I won’t look at your internal scoring, either.”

“You’re not afraid of losing a client?”

“I am.”

I could hear the smile in his voice.

“But I’m more afraid that you’ll think I got close to you for the business.”

In the end, Carrington’s independent review team completed the evaluation.

Baker Reed wasn’t given special treatment because of Wyatt, and they weren’t excluded because of him, either.

The day the results were finalized, I finally told him the score.

“Your firm won.”

“So I’m allowed to be happy now?”
