The Widow’s Fate They Chose Was My Escape Plan Chapter 25
Five days later, Hudson Crest’s directors, outside lawyers, and creditor representatives gathered in Miami.
The chairman sat at the head of the long table. When he saw me, a trace of contempt flashed in his eyes.
“Lena Sterling. Long time no see.”
“My name is Lena Hart,” I corrected him calmly.
His smile faded.
When the hearing began, the chairman first projected Sebastian’s medical summary from three years ago, then displayed the report claiming I was willing to die with my husband.
“Less than twenty-four hours after this report reached the board, Quinn Industries completed the relocation of its business.”
“And yet three years have passed. Sebastian not only didn’t die, he remains able to manage company affairs. We have reason to suspect that the so-called medical crisis was a deception.”
One of the directors frowned. “And what role did Ms. Hart play in this?”
The chairman looked at me, his voice thick with malice.
“She spent much of her childhood under the control of a criminal organization. She is familiar with deception and understands how to win sympathy.”
The conference room fell silent.
