The Widow’s Fate They Chose Was My Escape Plan Chapter 33
The second hearing was moved to the next day.
The chairman was no longer so composed. His lawyer kept insisting that the report could have been leaked by anyone with access.
I sat at the other end of the long table without a word.
The special committee had already required statements from all five people with access. The other four had voluntarily surrendered their devices. Only the chairman’s office refused to cooperate.
He was still struggling.
“This is a setup! Lena Hart has every motive to retaliate against Hudson Crest.”
“She hates the Sterling family, and she hates everyone who knows about her past.”
Suddenly, footsteps sounded outside.
An assistant brought in a notarized remote testimony.
It was signed by Hayden Grant.
The moment I saw his name, it felt as though a lifetime had passed.
In his testimony, Hayden admitted that both cards had borne his name and that the red mark was there to ensure Ivy drew first. He had known from the beginning.
He also admitted that they had planned to control me after Sebastian died.
Everything matched the contents of Hudson Crest’s investigation report.
The chairman gave a cold laugh.
“A man who resigned his post and hid himself in a charity—what is his word worth?”
The special committee member flipped to the last page.
“Its value is that it confirms the contents of the report you received three years ago were true.”
“You knew Lena Hart was being coerced into the marriage. Yet when Adrian came begging for help, you used unverified reports of her death to provoke him. And three years later, you leaked the same material to the media and smeared the victim as the fraudster.”
