I Died In His Arms Now I’ll Marry Another Chapter 07
“Why did Laurel suddenly get sick? Wasn’t she fine a few days ago?”
“Emilia’s marrying Dominic. She’s probably humiliated, so she’s hiding.”
“Good thing she’s not coming. She’d definitely make a scene at the wedding.”
The speakers were Emilia and several of her friends.
Adrian and Dominic were walking behind them.
I lowered the brim of my hat and brushed past them.
One of Emilia’s friends was still talking. “We should check every guest on the wedding day. Make sure Laurel doesn’t sneak in.”
Then, Adrian’s voice came from behind me.
“You all seem very afraid of her.”
Dominic said coldly, “You’ve spent years in the military and the Royal Guard. You don’t know what she’s done. Laurel is paranoid, selfish, can’t stand to see Emilia happy, and she chased me for years.”
“On Queen Evelyn’s birthday, she followed me to the lake, then threw herself into your arms in that passage. You shouldn’t have covered for her.”
Adrian didn’t speak again.
Neither did I. I left quickly and got into my car.
Dominic calling me paranoid wasn’t exactly slander.
In my last life, it was as if I lived only to beat Emilia.
When Queen Evelyn praised Emilia’s calligraphy, I practiced until my fingers split.
When Emilia showed a talent for design, I stayed up night after night, gripping needles and scissors until my hands trembled.
When Queen Evelyn fell gravely ill, Emilia joined a charity prayer event. I went three days without sleep or food, keeping vigil in the memorial square outside the Castle. Even after collapsing, I refused to leave.
The people of the capital all saw me as a madwoman.
From now on, Adrian should stay far away from me, too.
