I Died In His Arms Now I’ll Marry Another Chapter 12
King Roland allowed me onto the field.
Most people had no confidence in me.
The captain of the right-side team looked at me and laughed. “We waited all this time for a substitute and this is what we get? A girl? Might as well let that cripple Callum play—at least he used to be a soldier.”
How strange.
People just kept volunteering to make trouble for me today.
I ignored him and signaled for the referee to start.
But I had never played with the left team before.
Once the match began, we kept losing points. The right team only grew more cocky.
“You can still surrender now!”
I wiped sweat and grass from my face.
“I’m a last-minute substitute, and I’ve still dragged this out against you. That says more about your team than it does about me.”
The right-side captain ripped off his wristband and threw it on the ground.
“Just you wait!”
In the spectator area, King Roland noticed that Callum had been watching the field the entire time.
“Do you know Laurel?”
The corner of Callum’s mouth lifted slightly.
“I do. She’s like a clever little wild thing—one that knows how to bite.”
When play resumed, every attack from the opposing team came straight at me.
They had already burned through a lot of stamina, and their speed was beginning to slow.
And I had finally gotten a feel for both teams’ passing habits.
The ball came to my feet.
I picked my spot and shot.
The scoreboard changed.
I had scored my first point.
