I Died In His Arms Now I’ll Marry Another Chapter 13

The right-side team started getting agitated.

And the more agitated they got, the more openings they left.

After several consecutive goals, we were up by one point with only the final two minutes left to play.

This time, I didn’t look at the goal.

I turned and drove the ball hard.

It sailed out of bounds and struck Paige square in the carefully styled hair she had spent so long arranging. She shrieked and tumbled off the low sponsor platform, only to be caught just in time by the staff.

The Royal Healer confirmed she had only been frightened.

I blinked innocently.

“Sorry. Bad aim.”

In the final minute, the captain on the right grew dirtier, tripping me on purpose several times.

Mud and grass stained my uniform.

After a long struggle, I finally saw my chance.

Again, I didn’t look at the goal. I put all my strength into the kick and sent the ball flying into the back of his knees.

His legs buckled, and he dropped with a thud, kneeling right in front of King Roland’s viewing area.

Sweat plastering my hair to my face, I smiled and waved at the king.

“I’ll thank you for the reward in advance, then.”

King Roland burst out laughing and rose to his feet to applaud.

“Wonderful! So the capital has been hiding a girl fit to become a Guard.”

“Laurel, what do you want? As long as it’s within my authority, I’ll grant it.”

“Then give me something suitable as a dowry.”

I smiled deliberately. “Everyone knows Emilia and I like to compare. Her wedding was so grand—I can’t exactly lose too badly.”

King Roland was intrigued.

“You already have someone you wish to marry?”

Without meaning to, I glanced toward his side.

Callum was looking at me, too, amusement dancing in his light brown eyes.

The tips of my ears suddenly grew hot.

“Yes. He’s here today.”

At that same moment, another gaze became especially intense.

I knew it was Adrian.

He had been watching me all day.
