He Put His Ex First So I Found My True Mate Chapter 17
“Let go of her!”
Daniel came running from the backyard.
He caught Graham’s wrist and pried his hand off my arm with force.
Graham staggered back half a step.
Daniel didn’t pursue him.
He moved me behind him first, then looked down to check my arm.
Vivid red finger marks were already rising on my skin.
His expression darkened, but the first thing he asked was still, “Are you hurt? Do you need to go to the clinic?”
I shook my head.
My breath came out in a rush.
Only after he was sure there was no obvious injury did Daniel turn back to Graham.
Graham was gritting his teeth.
“This is between Mara and me.”
“She told you to leave, and you grabbed her anyway.” Daniel stood firm in front of me, his voice level. “So now it’s an assault that territorial patrol can handle.”
Graham’s face drained of color.
“You don’t know anything about us.”
“I know she already made her choice, and you decided your desires mattered more than her consent.”
Daniel gave him one last look.
“What you lost wasn’t just money. You burned through her trust and then acted like someone else stole it from you.”
“Leave. Now.”
“If you come near her again, I will contact patrol and help her file for a territorial no-contact order.”
Graham looked at me.
He still seemed to be waiting for me to speak for him, the way I always had after every conflict in the past.
I didn’t.
I took Daniel’s outstretched hand.
The last shred of expectation in Graham’s eyes died.
He turned and left in humiliation.
As soon as the gate shut behind him, Daniel turned back and gently cradled my arm.
“Are you okay?” he asked. “Do you want me to stay, or do you need some space?”
“Stay.”
He nodded.
“Okay. I’m here.”
