From Now On I Grow Toward Spring Chapter 15

“Sir, please show her some respect,” Ethan said, his voice firm.

“She doesn’t want to go with you. Can’t you see that?”

Matteo’s face turned to ice. “Who are you? This is between my wife and me. It’s none of your business.”

I let out a small, bitter laugh.

So he did know that a marriage was supposed to be between two people.

I looked up at him. “Matteo, we have nothing left to talk about.”

“The only thing between us now is that divorce agreement.”

His face went even paler. “Talia, are you really divorcing me over a plate of pasta? Did you really give up our child over it?”

“Yes and no.”

“Do you know what my favorite movie is?”

“Do you know what perfume I wear?”

He couldn’t answer a single question.

I smiled. “Then let me ask you this.”

“If those questions were about Sofia, you’d know all the answers, wouldn’t you?”

He looked at me, his lips moving, but no sound came out.

I started to walk past him.

“Wait.”

He caught up, stepping in front of me, his eyes filled with regret.

“Talia, I’m sorry. I know you’ve been treated unfairly all these years.”

“I was wrong. I always thought that because Sofia’s health was poor, I needed to take better care of her…”
