They Canceled My Ticket I Canceled Them Chapter 30

I replied to her myself.

*Yes. Every applicant will receive a clear outcome. No one will have to guess.*

After hitting send, I leaned back in my chair and sat quietly for a long time.

That afternoon, reception informed me that Mr. and Mrs. Reed were here to see me.

I had them shown to a conference room.

It had been over three years since I’d last seen them. They looked much older.

Mrs. Reed placed an old photo album on the table.

“Elena, we’re not here to make excuses for Daniel and Tyler.”

Her voice was soft.

“We just wanted to give you this. It has pictures from when you lived with us.”

I didn’t reach for it.

Mr. Reed looked at me, his expression somber.

“After your placement ended, we hoped the three of you would become your own kind of family. What happened later… our sons wronged you.”

“I know.”

Mrs. Reed’s eyes grew red.

“Would you still be willing to call us—”

The room fell silent.

The old me would have rushed to comfort her. Even if I didn’t want to, I would have given them the answer they were hoping for.

Now, I simply pushed the album back toward them.

“I’m grateful you gave me a home back then, and I remember how you took care of me.”

“But no title can undo what happened. I will not be returning to the Reed family, and I will not be restoring any legal authorizations.”

Mrs. Reed closed her eyes and nodded slowly.

“I understand.”

When they left, they didn’t ask me to forgive anyone.

They took the photo album with them.

I watched the conference room door close, feeling no thrill of revenge.

Only the quiet sense of a relationship finally settling into its proper place.
