His Love Is Not Visible Chapter 14

“You liked him?”

“That was years ago.”

This was the third time Garrett had felt a real threat to his marriage.

The first was at the hospital when he ran into Laura.

He hadn’t known she’d been burned. If she had asked about Vanessa, he would have explained: Vanessa’s car had broken down, and her injured ankle needed a follow-up, so he had just given her a ride.

But Laura hadn’t asked.

When they got home, he had blamed her for not calling him when she was hurt.

And Laura had looked at him and said, “Forget it. Let’s get divorced.”

She said the words so lightly.

But for the first time, Garrett felt a surge of panic.

The second time was when he was hospitalized. Laura hadn’t brought his clothes. Vanessa had.

That meant the two women had met.

When Vanessa handed him the bag, Garrett kept expecting an angry call from Laura.

He had even hoped for one.

He waited a long time in the hospital, but she never came.

When he got home, he saw Laura just waking up, her eyes barely open.

In the past, he had never thought much of Laura’s occasional forgetfulness.

That day, though, his chest felt tight.

Why didn’t she care anymore?

The third time was now.

At the airport, he had seen Laura hugging a striking man. They clearly had a long history.

Laura had forgotten his return, but she had remembered to pick up another man.

Worse, she had just admitted she’d had a crush on him.

Garrett suddenly wished he could go back to her high school years.

No. Better yet, elementary school.

He wanted to have known her before Ethan ever did.
