The Unsent Appeal Chapter 16

The Unsent Appeal Chapter 16

My coworkers knew my capabilities. They had no interest in my family drama.

During that time, Kieran called me countless times.

I didn’t answer a single call, and then I blocked his number, too.

What I hadn’t expected was for him to show up outside my office in Dublin.

The moment he saw me, he rushed over, his arms open as if to hug me.

“Chlo, I finally found you.”

“You left without saying anything. I’ve been looking for you for so long.”

I took a step back and looked at him as if he were a complete stranger.

The look in my eyes made him stop short.

“Chlo? What’s wrong?”

“I’m your boyfriend.”

“No,” I said, my voice flat.

“The moment you decided to do everything for your ‘beauty queen,’ our relationship was over.”

He kept moving toward me, trying to grab my arm.

I signaled to the front desk to call security, then dialed 112 myself.

Security escorted him out of the building.

Three years later, I became the Managing Director of the Dublin branch.

When I returned to the Boston headquarters for the annual management meeting, I saw my parents outside the company entrance.

They were wearing coats that were frayed at the cuffs, and their faces no longer held that old, entitled confidence.

The instant they saw me, they started crying as they told me what had happened over the past three years.

My parents later told me that after Dad shoved Allison into that room, they’d thought she had stayed there all night.

But she had climbed out through the first-floor window.

The next day, while my parents were out dealing with the online fallout, she snuck back into the house.
