He Sold Me Into Slavery I Returned As Queen Chapter 15

There was no gentleness or restraint left on Cedric’s face now.

Only ruin.

“I was foolish for a moment back then.”

“I was young, and seeing Rosalie without a family seat… I couldn’t bear it.”

“I only wanted Ella to leave for a while. I didn’t know she’d be sold so far away.”

I almost laughed.

“You sought out a slave trader who dealt with rogues.”

“You took the gold.”

“You told her to sell me far from the capital, far from the Ironwood Pack.”

“And now you say you only wanted me gone for a little while?”

Cedric’s eyes reddened with desperation.

“I was only thirteen!”

“I was afraid that if you came back, Rosalie would be shoved back into the shadows again.”

“I just cared about her too much.”

Lucian smiled, though there was no warmth in his eyes.

The pressure of an Alpha King descended with it. Every wolf in the hall instinctively tensed, and no one dared make another sound.

“You cared about her, and that gave you the right to sell another child into slavery?”

Cedric lowered his head.

“I know I am guilty.”

“But I truly did study hard all these years, and I sincerely wanted to serve the royal court.”

“I ask the King to consider my abilities and allow me to atone for my wrongdoing with future service.”

A mix of expressions played across the faces in the hall.

I looked at Cedric.

Even now, he was still thinking about his rank.

His seat.

His future.

Softly, I said, “Cedric, it truly wasn’t easy for you to study so hard for fifteen years.”

He looked up, his expression blank.

I went on, “But it wasn’t easy for me to survive the slave traders, either.”

“Why is your future the only one that matters?”
