His Lesson Killed My Mother Now He Will Pay Chapter 11
The night of the charity livestream, I got a call from the coroner’s office.
“Ms. Reyes, Elena Reyes’s death certificate has been issued. You may come collect the official copy.”
My hand tightened around the phone.
“Release it to my designated court courier,” I said. “And have it delivered to the Orpheum Theater before nine o’clock tonight.”
Outside the theater, lights blazed over the red carpet. Aisha was already waiting, a thick stack of documents in her arms. She pulled one free and handed it to me.
The court seal on the page was sharp and clear.
“Copy of the temporary restraining order.” She eyed my severe black suit. “You sure you want to do this?”
“Graham still has the storm box. I’m getting it back myself.”
I looked toward the entrance, where he had invited every media outlet in the city. Cameras were trained on every guest.
“If he wants everyone to hear my clarification, then they can hear the whole truth.”
Aisha raised an eyebrow. “You also want witnesses to the service of process?”
I took the paperwork and started up the steps.
“A restraining order is best served on the record.”
Behind me, the court courier followed, my mother’s death certificate in his briefcase.
