He Gave Her My Home So I Took Back My Life Chapter 13

He Gave Her My Home So I Took Back My Life Chapter 13

“I don’t owe the Ashford family a thing.” I closed the financial report. “If you want to settle, there is only one condition: a public apology to me—and to my mother.”

There was a long silence on the line.

Then Graham said quietly, “Nora, you’ve changed.”

“I’m just done tolerating you.”

He did not apologize. Ten minutes later, the Ashford attorneys released a statement: no comment at this time, pending a de-escalation of public discourse.

He still thought he could wait out the storm.

I logged into Instagram and posted a series I titled *The Ten Weekends*.

The first post was the text message from fourteen months ago, telling me to go to a hotel “for the child,” followed by the hotel invoice. The last image was of Vivian standing on the steps of my home with Graham, her name tag reading *Mrs. Ashford*.

Then the second post. The third.

Ten posts for ten Legacy Weekends.

Each set included the eviction texts, the hotel bills, and media photos of Vivian playing hostess. The dates lined up perfectly, and the excuses were nearly identical every time.

*For the child.*

*Last time.*

*Don’t embarrass the family.*

Within half an hour, the series had been reposted over a million times.

*This isn’t caring for a bereaved child. This is driving the legal wife out of her own home.*

*Ten times? In her own house? How did she stand it?*

*They used her house and her collection, then had another woman pose as the hostess?*

That same night, three of the foundation’s major donors announced they were withdrawing their support. The state attorney general’s office also confirmed that it was reviewing the foundation’s financial activities.

Graham finally panicked and called me seventeen times in a row.

I didn’t answer. Instead, Mateo placed another verified report in front of me.

The son Vivian kept describing as “fragile” and “unable to cope” had actually been attending boarding school out of state for the last two years and had his own therapist.

He had no idea his mother had been using him as an excuse to drive me from my home.
