My Composure After Divorce Became His Greatest Torment Chapter 06

I didn’t hang up. I didn’t raise my voice.

“I never contacted Caroline. She emailed me, and my lawyer was doing her job. If you want the letter withdrawn, your legal team can discuss it with mine.”

Two seconds of silence.

For the first time, a hint of hesitation entered Nathan’s voice. “She emailed you first?”

Caroline immediately started crying harder.

“You believe *her*? She’s trying to sabotage us! She just can’t stand to see us happy—”

Nathan said nothing more, but his silence was a wall of ice.

Suddenly, I was done arguing. I just stated the facts.

“I found your confidential company file while I was packing. I called your assistant to have it picked up, but Caroline answered and hung up on me. Then I called your driver, who told me Caroline had forbidden him from having any contact with me.”

“And then I received her email demanding access to my medical accounts and dictating my delivery plans.”

I paused.

“My lawyer has backups of all the call records and the email.”

I heard Nathan’s sharp intake of breath.

“You don’t have to believe me. Our lawyers can handle it. From the moment you asked for a divorce, all I have ever wanted was a quick, clean break.”

My grip on the phone tightened. “Nathan, from now on, all communication goes through our lawyers. It’s the only way I can avoid further harassment from you and your… fiancée.”

Then I hung up.

A moment later, I sent Tessa a message.

“Please go ahead and book that consultation. Thank you.”
