After Losing My Memory Don Begins A Good Husband. Chapter 06
Ricardo hurled his phone to the ground.
“Find her! Find Elina—now!”
He didn’t spare a glance for Valentina, still crying on stage. He shoved through the crowd and bolted for the exit.
Massimo chased after him.
“Ricardo, are you insane? You walk out now—what about Valentina? What’s tomorrow’s headline going to say?”
Ricardo flung off his hand, eyes bloodshot.
“Headlines? Can’t you see what’s happening? Elina is taking us all down with her!”
“If she’s actually given this stuff to the media, we’re all finished!”
He tore into the underground garage and sped off.
He went to our home first.
The apartment was empty. Everything of mine was gone from the closet.
All that remained was a set of keys, resting quietly on the coffee table.
He went to the florist I frequented. The café I liked.
He even went to my parents’ house.
The Vittoris looked at him blankly.
“Ricardo, Elina hasn’t come home. Didn’t she upset you?”
“Don’t worry—when she shows up, we’ll give her a good talking-to.”
Ricardo listened to their fawning tone and felt a sudden wave of nausea.
For the first time, it occurred to him that Elina might truly have no one left in this world to lean on.
The entire night.
Ricardo tore the city apart.
By dawn, he sat in his car, defeated, his face buried in his hands.
Then Massimo’s call came through.
His voice carried an unmistakable tremor of panic.
“Ricardo… you need to come to the traffic police station.”
“Someone brought in a bloodstained bag. Inside… is Elina’s ID.”
Ricardo felt the world tilt.
He floored the accelerator and raced to the station.
A detective pushed a mangled bag across the counter toward him.

Ricardo felt the world tilt.
He floored the accelerator and raced to the station.
A detective pushed a mangled bag across the counter toward him.
The dried blood on it seared his eyes.
“Last night on Santa Maria Street, there was a serious traffic accident.”
“A cargo truck hydroplaned in the rain and struck a pregnant woman crossing the road.”
“The injuries are extremely severe. She’s currently in the ICU at Santa Maria Private Hospital.”
The officer’s words hit Ricardo’s chest like a sledgehammer.
“That’s impossible… she was still sending messages yesterday afternoon…”
He half-crawled, half-ran out of the station and drove straight to Santa Maria Private Hospital.
Outside the ICU.
Through the glass, Ricardo saw me lying there, my body bristling with tubes.
The doctor emerged, his expression grim.
“Are you family? Why are you only showing up now?”
“The patient suffered severe cranial trauma. Combined with the violent impact, the fetus could not be saved.”
“Furthermore, her life remains in immediate danger. You should prepare for the worst.”
Ricardo’s legs gave out. He collapsed to his knees right there on the floor.
The baby was gone.
The child he’d once dismissed as unimportant—even considered a burden.
The child that shared his and Elina’s blood. Just gone.
He reached out with shaking hands, wanting to touch the glass.
Giada and Valentina arrived at the hospital then.
Giada glanced at the room and pursed her lips.
“Bro, talk about bad luck. How does someone just get hit by a truck?”
“But you can’t really blame us—she’s the one who ran off.”
Ricardo’s head snapped toward her, his gaze murderous.
“Shut your mouth!”
