My Family Sold Me To The Don. Too Bad He Was My Dog All Along Chapter 09

The stitches were done.

Corbin left the ointment and cleared out with his team. It was just me and Enzo in the room.

Enzo picked up his phone from the coffee table. Called his assistant right in front of me.

“Get Internal Affairs on the line. Start an investigation into Daniel Reagan. Bribery charges. Cut his access to every case file he’s got.”

“And put the word out. Anyone who speaks up for him—they’re going up against Enzo Lombardi.”

He hung up. Looked down at me.

“Luciana, by sunrise, your husband’s a dead man walking. Fired. Disgraced. He won’t even keep that shithole apartment.”

The cruelty in his voice was almost cheerful.

I watched him perform.

Then I pulled out my own phone. Screen lit up.

I opened a black app with no name. Entered my password.

Fingerprint.

Retinal scan.

Home screen.

My fingers moved fast across the screen.

I ran the script I’d written seven years ago and hit execute.

“Enzo.”

I tossed the phone onto the table.

“You really think I spent seven years just being a housewife?”

He frowned.

Five seconds later, his phone started buzzing like crazy. He picked up. Put it on speaker.

His assistant’s voice came through, cracked with panic.

“Don! We’ve got a problem. Thirty-seven offshore accounts—all frozen. The whole cash flow is locked down.”

Enzo’s face went tight. “Who did this?”

“No idea. Someone broke into our core architecture. The firewalls didn’t even slow them down. They’re packing our transaction records—uploading everything.”

“Don, someone left a back door in our system. From the very beginning.”

Enzo spun toward me.

I took a sip of ice water. Set the glass down.

“Seven years ago, I mapped out Lombardi’s entire financial structure in two hours. You think I didn’t leave myself a kill switch?”

“Enzo, you run the underground. Fine. But what you’ve built? It’s just a sandbox game I got bored with.”

His assistant was still shouting through the phone. “Don! Casino revenue is crashing. The commission’s in chaos. We need you—”

Enzo ended the call.

He looked at me. The madness in his eyes was fading. Something else was taking over. Real fear.

He finally understood.

Everything he had—every ounce of power, every dollar, every shred of control—was nothing in front of this woman.

“You’re going to destroy me?” His voice shook.

“You went after my husband first.”

I stood up. Walked toward him. He was taller, but I had all the weight in the room.

“Daniel is my line.”

I held his eyes.

“Touch him. See what happens.”

“By tomorrow, the Lombardi family won’t exist in this city.”

Enzo collapsed onto the couch. Not kneeling this time. Just drained.

“Why…”

He covered his face. His voice cracked.

“Seven years. I looked for you for seven years. I climbed every ladder, made every deal—just to be worthy of you.”

“Why won’t you even look at me?”

“Because you never understood what I wanted.”

I turned toward the door.

“Call off the investigation on Daniel. Right now.”

“The three hundred million. Transfer it from Lombardi accounts to the Romanos. On schedule.”

“In three months, the Romano family goes bankrupt. I want to see it happen.”

I grabbed the door handle.

“This is the last time we see each other, Enzo.”

“Don’t look for me. You won’t like the consequences.”
