The Mafia’s Lost Daughter Came Home. Then She Tore the Family Apart. Chapter 03

I got up, crossed the room, grabbed Chiara by the collar, hauling her out of Leo’s arms.

Chiara kicked wildly. “Let go! brothers, Mommy, help! She’s trying to kill me—”

“Shut your mouth.”

I grabbed the plate of chicken and shoved it against her face.

“You like chicken? Eat it. Bones, skin, everything. Chew and swallow. “

“Or I’ll strip you down and throw you out on the street myself.”

The smell of hot gravy hit her, and her eyes rolled back, head shaking violently.

My mother lunged at me, clawing.

“Get your hands off her, you animal! What kind of trash did your foster family raise?”

I backhanded her off me.

“Raise me? Did any of you raise me for a single day? “

“I got lost at birth, and the second you get me back, it’s just so this fake can use me as a punching bag?”

The room fell into a dead silence.

I smirked. “Got nothing to say? Then listen. Don’t try that on me.”

I pinched Chiara’s jaw open with two fingers and shoved a fistful of shredded chicken down her throat.

“Eat. Big bites. Now.”

Enzo and Marco lunged. I kicked sideways. The oak chair next to them shattered.

“Next?”

Dead silence.

Enzo froze. Marco swallowed.

Chiara gagged, forced to choke down the mouthful of shredded chicken, real fear finally showing in her eyes.

No one moved. No one breathed. Perfect.

I let go, grabbed a wet wipe, and cleaned my fingers.

“Next time we’re at this table and somebody wants to ruin my meal, they can eat the table too. Understood?”

Nobody made a sound.

I picked up a platter of sliced roast beef and headed for the stairs.

“Bunch of useless bastards. Ruined my appetite.”

The next morning, after breafast, I pushed my door open then I stopped dead.

The room was wrecked.

My old suitcase, the one I’d hauled back from Texas, was slashed open with a knife.

Clothes scattered across the floor.

Chiara knelt in the middle of it, scissors in hand, cutting through my shirts one snip at a time.

Leo stood guard beside her. “Careful, don’t cut yourself. This stuff’s filthy anyway. I’ll take you shopping for new ones after.”

The moment she saw me, she didn’t stop. Just waved a fistful of shredded fabric at me.

“Look, I’m doing crafts. Fun, right?”

My eyes moved past both of them and locked on the floor.

The old harmonica lay crushed in the pile of dirty clothes, bent out of shape, a boot print stamped across it.

That was the only thing my adoptive father left me.

Something snapped straight through the top of my skull.

Then—

I closed the distance in two steps, grabbed a fistful of Chiara’s hair, and slammed her to the ground, scissors and all.

“AH—”

She screamed. The scissors clattered out of her hand.

Leo panicked, shoved me. “Are you out of your mind? She’s just playing, why would you hit her?”

I turned and swung, open palm, full force, straight across his face.

CRACK.

He staggered half a circle, blood already at the corner of his mouth, hand flying up to his cheek, completely stunned.

“Playing? Fine. Let me show you what real playing looks like.”

I bent down, picked up the harmonica, wiped it clean on my shirt, and tucked it into my pocket against my chest. Then walked straight for the stairs.

Chiara scrambled up and chased after me, and the second she saw where I was headed, her voice cracked.

“No! Don’t go in Chiara’s room!”

I kicked her custom door open. It slammed into the wall behind it.

I grabbed the vase sitting by the door and dropped it without a second thought.

It shattered across the floor.

“My vase! Enzo bought that for me at auction!”

Chiara made a strangled sound and lunged to stop me.

I shoved her off and walked straight for the wall of collectible figures, grabbed a limited edition, and smashed it.

“Fun, right?”

I swept my arm across a shelf of blind boxes, sent the whole row crashing to the floor, and ground them under my heel.

“How about this one? More fun?”

Chiara collapsed, kicking and screaming from the floor. “Marco! Stop her! She’s a monster!”

Leo burst in, hand still pressed to his face, shaking at the mess.

“Reese, you’re out of your mind. She broke your things, I’ll pay for it! Why are you trashing her room?”

I stopped. Turned and stared him down.
