His Ex-Wife Called Me His Mistress—But I Married A Billionaire Chapter 05
The One That Got Away
This talk show segment is meant to promote our upcoming anthology film. The movie features three separate storylines—Julian and I are leads in completely different chapters.
Normally, we’d be paired with our actual onscreen partners. Instead, the opportunistic host shoves Julian and me into the same team just to chase cheap ratings.
The first game is “Never Have I Ever.”
The other celebrity pairs start off easy. Everyone gradually folds down fingers.
Then comes a real married couple on set. They smile mischievously and throw out a shared memory: “We graduated from the exact same university.”
I sigh, getting ready to fold my third finger, but Julian stops me.
“Chloe, we graduated from the same university too.”
I blink in genuine surprise. “Wait, really?”
Julian lets out a bitter laugh. “You really don’t remember?”
Honestly? Not at all.
Gasps erupt across the studio floor. The producers are practically drooling over this plot twist, but I sense danger immediately.
“I lived off-campus back then and barely kept track of classmates,” I say smoothly. “My bad, Julian.”
We barely scrape past that awkward moment.
Two rounds later, it’s just me, Julian, and the married couple left standing.
The couple drops a brutal killer line: “We were each other’s first loves—the one that got away.”
I accept my fate and fold my last finger.
Julian, however, keeps his finger standing proud and tall.
The host leans in with wild excitement. Who is Julian’s sacred “one that got away”?
Julian glances at me, his voice eerily calm. “She’s sitting right here in this room.”
Dead silence falls over the entire set.
What the hell is his problem? What kind of delusional game is he playing?
Everyone exchanges “oh, we totally get it now” looks.
I force a polite, icy smile. “Julian, the prompt requires us to be each other’s first love. Put your finger down.”
Whether he’s playing for drama or genuinely lost his mind, I refuse to give him an inch.
Yet when the show airs, the network edits out my cold shut-down entirely. They leave only Julian’s dramatic quote: “She’s sitting right here in this room.”
The internet goes into absolute meltdown mode.
