Kicked Out For My Sister’s Baby I Returned Rich Chapter 12

Trent refused to make an appointment.

For five straight days, he loitered outside my company from morning to night. On the first day he showed up with limp convenience-store flowers. On the second he began firing thousand-word confessions at the company’s public inbox. By the fifth, he was standing at the glass doors and shouting my name while strangers slowed down to watch.

When I got off work, he darted into the parking garage and planted himself in front of my car.

“Thea, please. Just give me a few minutes.”

“I was an asshole. I regret it, I really do. Back then you handled my bills, my budget, my insurance—hell, even my doctor’s appointments. It wasn’t until you were gone that I understood what I’d lost.”

He slapped his palm against my car window, his voice trembling.

“Give me one more chance. I’ll make it right.”

I rolled the window down.

Hope had only just begun to surface on his face when the head of security stepped up and handed him a document.

“Do you remember that party?” I asked, meeting his eyes. “I was in the backyard grilling for you and your guests, while inside the house, you and Regina were figuring out how to drain my savings.”

Trent’s lips moved, but nothing came out.

“Do you really think a few cheap apologies are enough to erase being publicly humiliated, thrown out of my home, and having my savings stolen?”

He dropped his head.

Across the top of the page in his hand ran the words Visitor Ban Notice, a lawyer’s signature beneath them, barring him from ever coming near the company grounds again.

“If you harass me again, I will call the police.”

I rolled the window back up and drove out of the garage.

Trent didn’t come after me. He simply stood there, ashen. When a gust of wind swept through, the notice tore loose from his stiff fingers and lay flat against the concrete like a scrap of garbage.
