Revenge On My Feet Chapter 20
I didn’t argue with her.
My lawyer simply laid Bellini Capital’s official findings and the email I had sent on the table.
“Your employment offer was revoked due to plagiarism and concealment.”
“That was the company’s compliance decision. It was not fabricated by Ms. Vance.”
Renata jabbed a finger at Desmond.
“He helped me hide it!”
Desmond’s head jerked up.
“You begged me to help. You said the disciplinary action was unfair, and that Nadia would never actually report you.”
“You gave me the hospital video!” Renata shouted. “How else would I have gotten it?”
“I admit I gave it to you,” Desmond said, his voice low.
“But the screws at graduation, the running prosthetic, the dog—I didn’t tell you to do any of that.”
“And when did you ever not stand by and watch?” Renata sneered.
“You loved that Nadia depended on you.”
“Every time I made her cry, you got to be the one to rush over and comfort her.”
“How much better do you really think you are than me?”
The color drained from Desmond’s face.
The room fell silent.
At all once I understood how the two of them had lasted together so long.
Renata needed someone to recast her cruelty as a joke.
And Desmond needed me to keep getting hurt so he could feel indispensable.
My lawyer rapped the table.
“If you two would like to continue accusing each other, you can save it for the formal proceedings.”
Desmond’s lawyer leaned in and murmured something to him.
After a moment, he drew the settlement agreement toward himself.
“I’ll sign.”
