Revenge On My Feet Chapter 29

Revenge On My Feet Chapter 29

After I signed the contract, I went in for routine maintenance on my prosthetic.

Once the technician had checked the connector, he tightened the last screw with a wrench.

“All set. Take a few steps and see how it feels.”

I stood and walked a circle around the room.

Every step was solid.

My phone buzzed.

It was a final email from my lawyer.

Renata had paid every amount the court had ordered, and all the legal restrictions remained in force.

Desmond had not breached the settlement agreement.

The file could now be officially closed.

I read it through, then archived the email.

I didn’t ask how they were doing now.

Some people, once they leave your life, are meant to stay in the past.

At dusk, WU took a team photo for the new project.

The photographer asked me,

“Director Vance, where would you like to stand?”

I walked to the front of the group.

“Here.”

Behind me, my colleagues were smiling and shifting to make room.

Yvonne placed the new project sign in my hands.

The camera settled on us.

Before the shutter clicked, I glanced down at my left leg.

I no longer needed anyone to hide it for me.

Nor did I need to prove my strength by enduring harm.

I lifted my head and looked straight into the camera.

This time, there was no charity in the photo, and no debt.

The rest of my life was my own.
