After He Blinded Me The Don Begged For Forgiveness Chapter 12
When he saw me come out, he reached carefully for my hand.
“I made your favorite—the roast lamb leg, the old Sicilian way. Want to try some?”
“Or if there’s something else you’d like, I’ll make it for you.”
I shook my head and refused, coldly.
“That won’t be necessary.”
I felt my way along the table, deliberately going around him.
His hand fell to his side. His voice was thin with loneliness.
“Anna, I just—want to do something.”
“Can you—not refuse me?”
I pressed my lips together.
“There’s no point.”
Soren grabbed me tight. His chest heaved.
“There is. As long as it makes you happy.”
“I’d do anything.”
I shook my head again.
I didn’t want to drag this out any longer.
“This is all your fault!”
“I’ll avenge Mommy!”
Suddenly, two small, childish voices.
I froze in place.
“I’ll kill you!”
“Daddy belongs to Mommy!”
There was a flurry of motion. I felt Soren grip me close.
He let out a stifled groan.
A second later, the air filled with the smell of blood.
“Who gave you the nerve?”
“Don’t touch her! Or I won’t mind locking you in the basement with your mother.”
The two children ignored his warning. They charged again.
“Avenge Mommy!”
“Yeah! Bad woman!”
I heard their footsteps drawing closer.
Then it was as if something had been kicked away with great force.
A sound of metal punching into flesh.
The next second, something seemed to tumble down the staircase.
The air stood still for a long, long time.
Soren suddenly gripped me hard. A sticky liquid was on his hands.
He rasped out, trying to soothe me.
“It’s alright.”
“Anna, it’s alright.”
I didn’t know what had happened.
It wasn’t until the FBI’s Organized Crime Task Force came to the door that I understood.
The two children had grabbed hunting knives from the kitchen and lunged at me. Soren had blocked them.
The knife he kicked away had pierced his eldest son’s heart.
The younger boy, terrified, had fallen from the second-floor staircase.
Both of them, dead.
When the task force searched the basement, they found Serena. She had already been dead for days.
Stripped, the scene was gruesome.
Before they could even begin to question him, Soren stepped forward.
“I did it.”
