My Fiancé Erased Our Nine-Year Mark For His Blood Servant Chapter 08
The Woman Who Saved Him
Adrian stares at me as if my words have struck him across the face.
His gaze moves between my Eternal Mark and the matching one above Lucien’s heart.
“That mark was meant for us,” he says hoarsely. “We waited nine years for it.”
“You erased our Betrothal Mark yourself.”
“I made a mistake.”
“A mistake?”
My voice turns cold.
“You brought another woman into our home. You gave her my wedding, my room, and my family’s jewelry. Then you watched me bleed and refused to believe me.”
“I left her at the altar for you.”
“And you expect that to undo everything?”
Adrian’s face loses its color.
He takes a step toward me, but Lucien moves between us.
“Enough,” Lucien says. “Evelyn needs to rest. Leave.”
Adrian does not move.
His eyes remain fixed on me.
“You agreed to this bond because you were hurt. You weren’t thinking clearly.”
“I knew exactly what I was choosing.”
“No.” He shakes his head. “You were grieving our child. Lucien took advantage of that.”
Lucien’s expression turns dangerous.
“I asked for her consent twice. You ignored her every time she begged you to stop.”
Adrian flinches, but he still refuses to leave.
“We can fix this, Evelyn. There must be a way to break the bond.”
“There isn’t.”
“I’ll find one.”
“I don’t want you to.”
The words finally silence him.
I look toward the guards waiting outside the room.
“Take him out.”
Two guards enter, but Adrian pulls away before they can touch him.
“I didn’t choose Sophia because I loved her.”
I pause.
His voice grows desperate.
“You think I abandoned you for some great love, but that isn’t what happened. I was repaying a debt.”
He points to blood on his sleeve.
“She knew a pureblood’s blood carried enough power to change a human.”
His breathing turns uneven.
“That’s why I made her my Blood Servant. That’s why I agreed to marry her. She was dying because of me, Evelyn. I only wanted to grant her final wish.”
He looks at me as if this explanation should change everything.
“I wasn’t choosing her over you. I was repaying a life I owed her.”
Lucien lets out a cold laugh.
“You destroyed the woman who saved you to repay the woman who stole from her.”
Adrian freezes.
“What did you say?”
“Sophia never saved your life.”
For the first time since entering the room, Adrian looks afraid.
“No. She told me—”
“She lied.”
Lucien steps closer to him.
“Evelyn found you after the hunters attacked. Your body was shutting down, so she opened her wrist and fed you her blood.”
Adrian slowly turns toward me.
I say nothing.
Lucien continues.
“She gave you so much that she lost consciousness beside you. Sophia found her there.”
“No,” Adrian whispers.
“She knew a pureblood’s blood carried enough power to turn a human. She wanted that power for herself, so she drank from Evelyn while Evelyn was unconscious.”
Adrian’s face twists in disbelief.
“That’s impossible.”
“The Blackwood physician found a bite on Evelyn’s wrist and severe blood loss. Sophia had no wound because she never gave you her blood.”
Lucien’s voice hardens.
“When you woke, Evelyn had already been taken away for treatment. Sophia was the only person left beside you, so she claimed the credit.”
Adrian takes another step back.
“But Sophia became weak afterward.”
“Because Evelyn’s blood was too powerful for a human body.”
Lucien glances at the stain on Adrian’s sleeve.
“Sophia was greedy. She drank far more than she could endure, hoping it would make her immortal. Instead, the blood began destroying her from the inside.”
The room falls silent.
“The blood that saved you is the same blood killing Sophia,” Lucien says. “Neither was ever hers.”
Adrian looks at me, his expression shattered.
“You saved me?”
“I did.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I tried.”
The memories return with cruel clarity.
I told him after I woke up. Sophia cried and accused me of trying to steal the only thing she had left.
Adrian called me jealous.
I tried again when Sophia first became sick.
He told me to stop attacking a dying woman.
“You believed her every time,” I say. “And every time, you called me cruel.”
“I didn’t know.”
“You never wanted to know.”
His gaze drops to my stomach.
The woman who saved his life is also the woman whose child died because he refused to believe her.
“I did all of this for a lie,” he whispers.
“No,” I say. “Sophia lied, but every choice after that was yours.”
Adrian reaches for me.
Lucien catches his wrist before he can touch me.
“You heard her,” Lucien says. “Leave.”
The guards seize Adrian’s arms and drag him toward the door.
He does not fight them this time.
He only keeps staring at me, pale and lost, as if he is finally seeing everything he has destroyed.
The doors begin to close.
“Evelyn,” he says desperately. “I’ll make this right.”
I hold his gaze until the space between us disappears.
“You can’t.”
The doors slam shut.
