My Wedding Dress For The Other Woman? His Regret After I Canceled Chapter 05

The guards kicked open the backstage doors.

Inside the VIP lounge, Kaelan was sipping champagne with Serena, laughing.

“Check on Vivian,” he said to his assistant. “If she’s ready to apologize, let her crawl in here and pour our drinks.”

Bang!

The door flew off its hinges.

Kaelan spun around. His mouth opened.

He never got a word out.

Ethan was already on him.

“Who the fu—”

CRACK!

Ethan’s fist—wrapped in those black beads he always wears—connected with Kaelan’s jaw.

Bone snapped. Kaelan flew backward and crashed into a mirror. Glass exploded everywhere.

Serena screamed.

Ethan walked through the broken glass and grabbed Kaelan by the collar, lifting him off the ground.

“The bracelet. Now.”

Kaelan’s face was already swelling. But his ego was bigger than his pain.

“Who the hell do you think you are? You can’t touch me—”

Ethan didn’t wait for him to finish.

He grabbed Kaelan’s right wrist and bent it backward.

“AHHHHH—!”

The scream ripped through the room. Kaelan’s wrist went limp at a wrong angle.

The ruby bracelet fell from his pocket.

Ethan caught it. Mid-air. Pulled out a handkerchief and wiped it clean. Slow. Careful. Like Kaelan’s touch had infected it.

Then he looked down at the man writhing on the floor.

“Enjoy your last night of freedom, Cross.”

He turned and walked out.

“Tomorrow, Veridian City won’t remember your name.”

Three hours later.

I sat in front of a fire in Ethan’s penthouse.

My knees were bandaged. My wrist was wrapped. The ruby bracelet was back where it belonged.

Ethan handed me a mug of hot chocolate and sat down beside me, pulling the blanket tighter around my shoulders.

“The lawyers are ready,” he said quietly.

I set down the mug.

“Start the video call.”

He snapped his fingers. The wall-sized screen lit up.

Dozens of faces stared back at me from across the ocean. Lawyers. Analysts. Fund managers. That was my empire. The one I’d built from nothing.

“Madam Vance.” They spoke in unison.

I sat up straight.

“Pull every dollar Cross Industries has.” My voice was calm. I surprised myself. “Freeze their patents. Shut down their production lines. And send every piece of evidence we have on Kaelan’s fraud to the federal prosecutors.”

“By sunrise, I want Cross Industries to be worth nothing.”

“Yes, Madam.”

The screen went dark.

The next morning.

The day I was supposed to get married.

I got out of bed and observed their predicament through the security cameras.

Kaelan sat in his office, right arm in a cast, face purple and swollen, screaming at his assistant.

“Who was that man? I want him dead!”

“Don’t be angry, Kaelan.” Serena sat on the couch, reapplying her lipstick.

“He’s probably just some thug Vivian hired to scare you. She’s probably crying somewhere right now, waiting for you to forgive her.”

Kaelan’s ego grabbed onto that. “You’re right. She’s nothing.”

Then the door burst open.

Mack ran in. White as a ghost. Holding a tablet with shaking hands.

“Mr. Cross. We’re ruined.”

Kaelan stood up. “What are you talking about?”
