I Lost The Game But Won In The End Chapter 07

“Yeah.”

He stood in the doorway without moving.

“You really canceled the engagement party too.”

“Didn’t the hotel tell you?”

“They did.”

His voice was a little hoarse.

“I thought you’d spend a few days on the island, then come back and we could talk.”

I kept folding clothes.

“There’s nothing to talk about.”

Ethan came in.

When he saw the trash bag on the floor, he bent down and pulled out the sapphire necklace.

“You’re throwing this away too? Nora, this was your favorite birthday gift last year.”

“I liked it last year. I don’t anymore.”

A long time passed before he set the necklace on the table.

“I’m sorry. I was wrong about what happened on the yacht. That kiss will never happen again.”

“I shouldn’t have hidden who Zoe was from you all this time either.”

“But you know how I’ve treated you these past two years.”

“I never used you as a substitute for her.”

“Nora, I really do love you.”

When I still said nothing, he lowered his voice.

“Biscuit’s missed you like crazy these past few days. Stop being angry, and the three of us can go back to being a family.”

At the sound of his name, Biscuit poked his head in through the doorway.

I crouched and picked him up.

“I’m taking Biscuit too.”

That finally made Ethan panic.

“I raised Biscuit too.”

“Then let him choose.”

I put Biscuit on the floor.

Ethan crouched.

“Biscuit.”

He looked at Ethan, then at me.

The next second, he threw himself against my legs and clamped his teeth around my pant leg, refusing to let go.

Sloane couldn’t hold back a laugh.

Ethan’s face darkened.

I picked Biscuit up.

The movers came upstairs at exactly that moment, and the last box was carried away.

I put Biscuit on his leash and walked to the door.

Behind me, Ethan suddenly spoke.

“Nora… if you take everything today, are you ever coming back?”

I looked down and fastened Biscuit’s leash securely.

“No.”

The door slowly closed behind me.

Biscuit trotted beside me, tail wagging.

The townhouse I had lived in for two years had nothing to do with me anymore.

After I brought Biscuit back to my parents’ house, they finally realized I wasn’t throwing a tantrum.

Before, whenever Ethan and I fought, it never lasted more than two days.

On the third day, he would show up with food I liked, my mother would say a few things to smooth things over, and that would be the end of it.

But this time, the engagement party had been canceled. I had emptied the townhouse we shared. Even Biscuit had come home with me.

That evening, my father called me downstairs.

“The Sinclairs are coming over in a little while.”

I was wiping Biscuit’s paws.

“What for?”

“To settle this.”

At seven, Ethan’s parents arrived, with Ethan behind them.

His mother sighed first.

“Nora, everyone’s had a few days to calm down.”

“What happened on the yacht was Ethan’s fault.”

“He’s promised us it will never happen again.”

Ethan looked at me.

“I’m sorry.”

My father said directly, “Since Zoe is the problem, then we deal with the problem.”

Ethan frowned.

“Don’t let her associate with any of you anymore.”

“If her current job has anything to do with Sinclair Group, stop that too.”

“If necessary, arrange for her to go somewhere else.”

To my surprise, Ethan was the first to object.

“No.”

The living room went silent.
