Don Bowed To Me Chapter 33

Don Bowed To Me Chapter 33

After the family meeting ended.

Enzo Bellandi found me.

“Dr. Vitale, someone has been kneeling outside the east gate of the estate for two hours.”

I looked up.

“Who?”

“Matteo Marchetti. He says there’s something extremely important—regarding Isabella Vitale.”

I was silent for a few seconds.

“Let him in.”

Fifteen minutes later.

Matteo walked into the main hall.

His suit was wrinkled, mud on his cuffs.

He walked up to me and dropped to his knees.

Sebastian immediately stood.

“Matteo.”

“I warned you last time—don’t come within ten meters of Dr. Vitale.”

Matteo didn’t raise his head.

“Sebastian, I’m not here for myself today.”

He looked at me.

“Dr. Vitale.”

“Before my father was stripped of his position by Nonno, he took Isabella from Queens.”

My heartbeat stopped for an instant.

“When?”

“Three days ago.”

“Where is she now?”

Matteo shook his head.

“I don’t know.”

“But I know one thing.”

He looked up.

“If you were recognized at today’s council meeting.”

“My father was going to make Isabella disappear. Permanently.”

Sebastian stepped forward.

“What do you mean?”

Matteo’s tears finally fell.

“He said Isabella was your weak spot.”

“He said as long as she disappeared, you’d carry ‘I could have saved her’ for the rest of your life.”

“He said it would make you never truly trust anyone again.”

He pulled a piece of paper from his pocket.

“This is the plane ticket my father had me book last night.”

I took it.

Providence T.F. Green Airport.

Tonight, 11:50 p.m.

Destination.

São Paulo.

I only glanced at it once.

“It’s a decoy.”

Sebastian looked at me.

“You’re sure?”

“If he were really leaving.”

“He wouldn’t leave a trail this obvious.”

I folded the ticket.

“Enzo.”

“Here.”

“From Boca Raton to Providence.”

“Every property, warehouse, and office connected to Vincenzo.”

“Search them all.”

“Also—check every private dock on the east side of Providence airport.”

“I want Isabella found before 11:50 tonight.”

Sebastian nodded.

Didn’t ask why.

Turned and walked out.

The main hall went quiet again.

Just me and Matteo.

Matteo looked up.

“Dr. Vitale.”

“Why are you still trying to save her?”

“Her whole life, she’s never once been good to you.”

I looked at him.

Smiled slightly.

“Matteo.”

“I’m not saving her.”

“I’m—”

“Refusing to let Vincenzo win.”
