The Alpha’s Daughter Chapter 01
I entered the world of a Western werewolf novel.
And the moment I arrived, the territory was under attack.
My guard shoved me straight into the attacking rogue wolf, forcing me to take the blow meant for another she-wolf.
A claw tore into me, and I nearly died.
The World Script hurried to explain in my head: [He is an important supporting character in this book. You have to redeem him. A little suffering in the early chapters is nothing. Later, he will abandon Selene and fall in love with you. You are the heroine of this story!]
That so-called important supporting character knelt on the floor, looking at me with disgust in his eyes. Stubbornly, he said, “Everything was my fault. Selene had nothing to do with it.”
Over the Script’s shrieking, I lifted my hand calmly.
“Kael Thorn failed to protect his charge. Take him away.”
“Execute him with silver.”
Selene screamed. “Aurora, you can’t kill him!”
“This is all my fault. Kael didn’t mean it. He only panicked.”
The guards and servants began pleading for him.
“Kael has served at Miss Blackwood’s side for so many years. Miss Blackwood, you can’t be this cruel!”
Only Kael looked certain. He smiled as if he did not believe I would actually kill him. There was still hatred hidden in his eyes.
Ah.
The original heroine had been weak. She had saved Kael’s life, yet still bent over backward trying to please him.
Ten years ago, Kael’s father betrayed the pack and embezzled from its resources. Because of him, the armed defenses in the territory under his command were left dangerously thin. When a rival pack attacked the border outposts, the patrol line collapsed almost instantly, and every downstream operation fell with it.
Dozens of outposts were raided. Countless men died. My father was furious and had Kael’s father executed with silver on the spot.
Kael should have been executed alongside him.
But the heroine pitied him. She begged my father to spare him, then kept Kael by her side and gave him a position as one of her guards.
He did not repay her kindness.
Instead, the moment he fell in love with someone else, he pushed the heroine into the path of danger with his own hands, making her take the hit meant for his precious Selene.
The heroine had been weak.
I was not interested in keeping a traitor at my side.
I took a silver pistol from one of the guards and raised it slowly toward Kael.
The Script screamed: [Are you serious? Didn’t you hear me? One day he will love you so, so much!]
[Why should I suffer now for a love that may or may not exist in the future?] I cut it off sharply in my mind.
Then my red lips parted.
“I am the Alpha’s daughter.”
The moment they saw me raise the silver pistol, everyone who had been so dismissive a second ago froze in shock.
Selene’s eyes widened. “No. Aurora, no. You were always so good to him. How could you bear it? You’re joking, right? This isn’t funny.”
Kael froze too. Then he reacted and sneered.
“Let her execute with silver.”
The guards and maids joined in.
“Kael made a mistake, but he doesn’t deserve to die for it.”
Seeing this, Kael grew even more smug. He looked at me with open provocation.
So everyone in this territory knew exactly how soft and easy to bully the original heroine had been. They truly believed that even the son of a traitor could climb over my head.
I said nothing.
I pulled the trigger.
With the crack of a silver pistol, Kael dropped to the floor.
Even as he died, his eyes were still looking at me with contempt. He could not form a single complete sentence.
“No!” Selene screamed after the shock passed, throwing herself over his body. “No, no, Kael!”
She raised her head and glared at me, eyes red with hatred.
“How can you be so vicious?”
I pointed the silver pistol at her.
“Do you want to die too?”
She shrank back on instinct. When she spoke again, her voice was much weaker, her cheeks wet with tears.
“Aurora, Kael served you for so many years. How could you…”
I cut her off without expression.
“I kept him here to protect me. Now he not only failed to protect me, he dared to push me toward death. What am I supposed to do, keep him alive so he can try again?”
Selene choked on her words.
Everyone stared at me in horror.
My gaze swept across the room. Whoever met my eyes lowered their head in fear.
I tossed the silver pistol aside and said lightly, “Replace every guard and maid who pleaded for him just now. I don’t want to see any of them a second time.”
Only then did they begin to beg for themselves.
“Miss Blackwood, we were wrong!”
“Miss Blackwood, we will never dare again!”
“Please let me stay, Miss Blackwood. I need this job!”
I kept walking until I heard the steward’s voice behind me.
“Of course, Miss Blackwood. I will arrange it immediately.”
The corners of my mouth curved.
The door closed slowly behind me.
Since I was now the heroine of this book, no one would ever stand above me again.
