The Mafia Princess They Threw Away Chapter 05

The rain was coming down hard outside.

Mom and Dad stayed close to Sofia while Dr. Hale, our family’s private physician, checked her wounds again.

Luca stood by the window, staring out at the storm.

Sofia glanced at him.

“You left her in the Iron District, right?”

She smiled.

“With this rain, she’ll be terrified. Maybe now she’ll finally learn her lesson.”

Luca didn’t answer.

Something about what had happened was starting to bother him.

He turned around.

“Sofia.”

“You said you went into Elena’s room because you thought she’d stolen that money.”

“Then why was the whole room torn apart?”

Sofia’s smile stiffened.

“I was looking for where she hid the rest of it.”

Then her eyes immediately filled with hurt.

“What? You think I framed her?”

Mom stepped in at once.

“Of course he doesn’t.”

“Sofia would never do something like that.”

Dad nodded.

“Elena’s always been jealous of her. You know that.”

Luca fell silent.

After a moment, he said,

“When Elena comes back, don’t hit her again.”

“She should’ve learned her lesson by now.”

Mom and Dad didn’t answer.

Dr. Hale finished cleaning Sofia’s cuts and frowned.

“Try not to get these wet. And be more careful around broken glass next time.”

Mom’s face darkened.

“She wouldn’t have fallen on it if Elena hadn’t pushed her.”

Dr. Hale paused.

“Pushed her?”

“Yes,” Mom said. “Elena shoved her straight into the glass.”

Dr. Hale looked at Sofia’s injuries again.

“That doesn’t quite match what I’m seeing.”

Everyone went quiet.

He pointed to the shallow cuts on Sofia.

“If someone had forcefully shoved her backward into broken glass, I’d expect a different injury pattern.”

“These injuries look far more like she simply fell.”

Sofia’s face changed.

“What are you saying?”

“Elena pushed me!”

Dr. Hale looked up sharply at the name.

“Elena?”

His expression immediately turned serious.

“Elena Bellini?”

Mom frowned.

“Yes. Why?”

Dr. Hale stared at my parents, his brow furrowing in confusion.

Then he said,

“She was even less likely to push anyone!”
