He Called Me Ugly Until I Turned Off The Filter Chapter 07

Chat lit up. Oh HELL no. That’s not “similar,” that’s a photocopy. Tara used to be a round-eyed cutesy streamer. She changed her whole look right after they went public. Knockoff girlfriend confirmed.

Tara went bloodless. Then broke into tears.

“You can’t slander me just because I’m with Ethan! Two people can happen to do the same makeup — you don’t own winged liner!”

I nodded. “Sure. Makeup coincidences happen. What about copy?”

I dropped more screenshots.

Tara’s viral video from last year, title: “Nobody’s born deserving to be loved — but you can start by loving yourself.”

I’d written that as a stream closer for Ethan three years ago.

On her birthday stream, Tara had said, “I’m not sweet. I’m just scared of people being sad.”

I had said those exact words to Ethan once. “I’m not gentle. I’m just afraid of upsetting people.”

Tara’s fan-group name was Willow Drops.

My name is Willow.

Chat went nuclear. “Willow Drops”? I always thought that name was weird. She straight-up stole the whole persona. Ethan literally recycled his ex’s material to prop up his new girlfriend. This is genuinely sick.

Tara sobbed. “Babe, say something!”

Ethan’s jaw was locked. “Willow, are you done?”

“A few screenshots don’t prove anything.”

“They prove,” I said, “that you’re panicking.”

He sneered. “Don’t forget — the reason you have any attention right now is me.”

I looked at him.

“Then thank you. I’ll take the attention. And I’ll take the receipts.”

I opened a voice recording on my phone.

Ethan’s voice came through the stream. Six months ago. Our last phone call before the breakup.

“Willow, I’ve got real numbers now. I can’t keep this going if you won’t show your face.”

“Tara’s agency is willing to spin us as a couple. She’s cute, she’ll play along.”

“If you actually love me, don’t come after me. Nobody knows who you are anyway.”

“When I mention you from now on, I’ll just say you catfished me. Long-distance ex, no face, no proof — audiences eat that up.”

The recording ended.

Ethan didn’t move. Tara had forgotten to cry.

Chat exploded. He actually said that. “I’ll say she catfished me” — are you kidding. Three years, she scripted his whole channel, and he turned her into a punchline.

Ethan surged out of his chair. “You recorded me?”

“Yes,” I said calmly. “Because the second you said that — I realized I wasn’t ugly. I was just stupid.”

His viewer count was still climbing. He lunged to end the battle.

I got there first.

“Don’t. You said if I killed the filter, you’d go on your knees. Raw Cam’s still rolling. Get on your knees.”
