No More Yielding Chapter 05
The smile on Isla’s face completely shattered.
She screamed and threw herself at Arthur, gripping his arm in a death hold.
“Impossible! Uncle Arthur, you lied to me! You said the early decision admission slot was mine!
“What do I do now? I can’t get in anywhere! You owe me my college education!”
Arthur turned his head stiffly, looking at Isla as she threw her tantrum.
The image of Isabella’s dead, empty eyes suddenly flashed in his mind.
“I won’t be a nurse, Dad.”
“Fine, as you wish.”
Boom!
The string of reason in Arthur’s mind completely snapped.
He shoved Isla aside, his trembling hands pulling out his phone to dial my number:
“The number you have dialed does not exist.”
He frantically dialed Isabella’s number like a madman:
“Sorry, the number you have dialed is powered off.”
Arthur called his orderly Daniel, letting out a low, beast-like growl from his throat.
“Where are they?! Where!”
Daniel was stunned by the roar.
“Colonel Pendelton, Mrs. Pendelton and Isabella have already passed through security.”
“Stop them! Stop them at all costs!”
Arthur dashed out of the admissions office.
He sped all the way, running consecutive red lights, and even crashed through the highway guardrail.
Sparks flew as the car scraped along, screeching to a harsh halt in front of the terminal.
He rushed into the lobby like a lunatic, shoving through the crowd and ignoring the security guards to reach the checkpoint.
However, on the giant electronic screen, the flight information had glaringly turned a piercing red.
“The flight to Boston has departed.”
Arthur froze in place.
Through the massive floor-to-ceiling windows, he saw a plane tearing through the clouds, resolutely soaring toward the distant horizon.
Not even a wisp of cloud lingered for him.
We were never coming back.
His legs gave way, and he fell heavily to his knees on the cold marble floor.
