The Mafia Princess’s New Groom Chapter 08

“Vince, You promised me! You looked me in the eye and promised you’d protect us, protect me and our child! You said our baby would have everything! You said you’d make our baby the happiest kid in the world!”

She pressed her face into his chest, her whole body convulsing with sobs.

“Your baby hasn’t even been born yet, Vince. Your baby hasn’t even seen your face. How can you…how can you even think about—”

She couldn’t finish.

The words dissolved into a wail that echoed off the vaulted ceiling and sank into every corner of the room.

She pulled back just enough to look up at him, her face a wreck of tears and blood and smeared makeup.

Her lips were trembling so hard she could barely form the words.

“Vince, I’m so scared. Please. You said you’d always protect me. You promised. You PROMISED.”

That look.

That fragile, shattered, helpless look.

The same look that had worked on Vincent a thousand times before.

The look that made men want to wrap their arms around her and shield her from the world.

Even I felt something twisted in my chest.

“Vince, no! I’m carrying your baby! You promised you’d protect us — me and our child! You said you’d make our baby the happiest kid in the world!”

“Vince, please don’t kill me. Your baby hasn’t even seen your face yet.”

She was shaking from head to toe, tears streaming down her face.

“Vince, I’m scared. Please. Protect me.”

That same helpless, fragile look.

Even I, a woman, couldn’t help but feel a pang of sympathy.

Vincent caved.

He turned to me, eyes pleading.

“Isabella, this is all my fault. Sophia’s been through enough. Leave her out of this.”

“Whatever you need to get out of your system, take it out on me. I can handle it.”

A spray of blood shot three feet in the air.

The blade sliced clean through his ankle and severed the artery underneath.

Vincent’s face twisted in agony.

“Isa… bella. Are you really this cold? Twenty years together and it means nothing to you?”

I looked at the little sweetheart curled up in his arms and scoffed.

“Didn’t you just tell me to take it out on you?”

“Last chance.”

Before I could even raise my hand, a knife plunged into Sophia’s chest. Vincent shoved her aside and threw himself at my feet, face down on the floor.

“Boss. I’m begging your forgiveness.”

Sophia stared at Vincent, eyes wide with horror and disbelief. Blood ran from her chest and pooled on the floor beneath her.

Maybe she really believed he loved her. She was carrying his child, after all.

Something seemed to dawn on her in that moment.

Blood bubbled from her lips as she dragged herself across the floor toward me.

“Miss Mancini… save me. I know Vincent’s secret.”
