Too Late He Wanted Me Back Chapter 17
The red heart-shaped velvet box was knocked over, and the jeering crowd fell silent in an instant.
Jaylen, who was kneeling on one knee on the ground, froze at once.
What had Seraphina just said?
She had actually said that she would rather die than remarry him?
“Sera, even throwing a tantrum has its limits.” Jaylen’s face darkened. “I was wrong before, yes, but I’ve already apologized to you, and I poured hundreds of billions of dollars into your project just to see you once!”
“After seeing you, I apologized, I coaxed you, I even got down on one knee and proposed to you all over again… I’ve done everything I can, and I’ve already humbled myself as much as possible. What more do you want from me?”
Jaylen had always been heaven’s favored son. Ever since childhood, he had been pampered like royalty, with everyone around him revolving around him. When he said one, no one dared say two. Growing up, he had never even apologized to anyone.
And now, in order to win Seraphina back, he had spent money, coaxed her, and even lowered himself to apologize to her. He felt that he had already shown more than enough sincerity. What right did Seraphina have not to forgive him?
Seraphina seemed to see right through what Jaylen was thinking, so she asked in return, “Jaylen, why should I forgive you just because you apologized?”
“If I stab you and then lightly say I’m sorry, does that mean the stabbing never happened?”
“Sera, I don’t want to argue about this pointless crap.” Jaylen spoke with obvious impatience. “I told you, I’ll make it up to you for everything I owed you before. Why won’t you believe me?”
At that, Seraphina shot Jaylen a cold glance. “Because even now, you still aren’t telling the truth.”
“Jaylen, you said you only see Cyenne as a sister. Do you even believe that yourself? Do you want me to remind you what you and Cyenne did right under my nose during our five years of marriage?”
“When we were dating, Cyenne had just been kicked out of the Canyer family by your parents. You felt sorry for her, so you took her in and had her live with you. At the time, I truly thought you treated Cyenne like a real younger sister, so I didn’t mind. But how did you repay my trust?”
“On our wedding night, you left me behind and ran to Cyenne’s room, where you held her and slept there the whole night just because there was thunder that night, and Cyenne had been afraid of thunder since she was little.”
“And starting from that night, every few days Cyenne found one excuse after another to get you to stay with her in her room. She was scared after watching a horror movie, she had a nightmare and couldn’t sleep… There were even times when she didn’t bother with an excuse anymore and just said outright that she wanted to sleep with you.”
“And how did you answer her? A normal older brother would have scolded her and told her to go back to her own room to sleep. But you just sighed and said, ‘I really can’t do anything with you,’ and then you went into Cyenne’s room to keep her company.”
At that, Seraphina paused. She stared fixedly into Jaylen’s eyes, then asked with a smile, “Do you want me to keep going?”
Jaylen’s expression instantly turned hideous, but he still tried desperately to defend himself. “Sera, it’s not what you think. Cyenne was timid when she was little. She was afraid of the dark, and she was afraid of thunder too. Every time it thundered, she came to my room holding her stuffed bunny to look for me.”
“After all these years, sleeping with her on rainy days has become a habit for me, but that doesn’t mean I love her…”
Seraphina had not expected that even at this point, Jaylen was still refusing to admit it.
He really wouldn’t shed a tear until he saw the coffin.
Since that was the case, Seraphina had no intention of covering for him anymore. She took out her phone, pulled up a video, and played it directly in front of everyone.
In the video, Cyenne had her arms around Jaylen’s neck, swaying her waist in abandon. “…Ah… Jay is amazing… I like Jay so much…”
And Jaylen, his eyes bloodshot, was gripping Cyenne’s waist as he thrust upward wildly!
