He Let Me Bleed So I Let Him Go Chapter 09
In the lounge behind the banquet hall, Bianca sat on the sofa.
Dante handed her a cup of warm water. She held it with both hands, her eyes still red, but her composure had returned.
“Dante… was I wrong, too?”
Dante was straightening a cuff that had been pulled askew. He looked up at her.
“When I knew Elena was coming, I should have had someone send over a gown. Then she wouldn’t have been embarrassed in front of all those bosses, and she wouldn’t have hired someone to humiliate me.”
“You suspended her protection tonight… Wasn’t that too much? She is your wife, after all. You should go find her.”
Dante’s anger had been starting to subside.
He had been on the verge of ordering his men to confirm Elena had gotten away safely. But hearing Bianca’s words only rekindled his irritation.
“No need.”
“You did nothing wrong. No matter how unhappy she was, she had no right to attack the daughter of the Ferraro Don at a truce dinner. She knows the price both our Families would pay for that.”
“Get some rest.”
Bianca gave a soft nod, her fingers tracing the rim of the cup.
After a moment, she spoke again.
“Dante, there’s something I’ve wanted to ask you for a long time.”
“What is it?”
She didn’t look up, the tips of her ears turning a faint pink.
“If you had never met Elena, would we have ended up together?”
“Or… if you could go back, would you choose a different marriage?”
