He Let Me Bleed So I Let Him Go Chapter 10

Dante frowned.

It was as if the question had never occurred to him.

“No.”

The color drained from Bianca’s face.

“Why?”

Dante’s expression remained calm, dispassionate.

“We grew up together. The Ferraro and De Luca families have been partners for decades. That kind of trust is rare.”

“Bianca, I have never seen you as a woman to marry. I have only ever seen you as a younger sister, and as the representative of an allied Family.”

“Even if it hadn’t been Elena back then, the result would have been the same.”

Bianca’s grip tightened on the cup, making the water tremble.

She looked up at him, her eyes filled with a hurt she couldn’t hide.

“Then why did you give me control of your calls and messages?”

“Why, when I said I’d slept with you, did you still protect me? Why, when I accused Elena, did you believe me without question?”

She shot to her feet, her chest rising and falling rapidly.

“You stripped her of her Family status in front of everyone for my sake. And now you’re telling me you only ever saw me as a sister?”

Dante’s frown deepened.

“After the truce, both Families adopted the same security protocols. You were the Ferraro’s official liaison, so I authorized you to screen external communications. Emergency calls were to be patched through directly. You never had the authority to block them.”

“You said things you shouldn’t have while you were drunk. I didn’t punish you because to do so in front of our allies would have damaged the truce.”

“And tonight, I was dealing with Elena’s breach of protocol. I was not trying to please you.”

“I don’t know what gave you the wrong impression. But there has never been anything between us.”
