He Let Me Bleed So I Let Him Go Chapter 27
The knife arced straight toward Elena’s abdomen.
It all happened in a split second.
Before Elena could react, a powerful force shoved her hard to the side.
She hit the ground, her elbow slamming into the pavement in a burst of dull, throbbing pain.
Then she heard the sickening sound of a blade sinking into flesh.
Elena jerked her head up.
Dante stood where she had been a moment before, his back to her, his body pitched slightly forward.
Bianca was frozen, the knife still in her hand.
It was buried to the hilt in Dante’s left side.
Bianca stared at her own hand, trembling uncontrollably.
“I didn’t… Dante, I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
“It was supposed to be her.”
She let go of the knife and stumbled backward, step by step.
Dante turned his head, his eyes finding Elena where she sat on the ground.
Blood was already soaking through his shirt.
All the color had drained from his face, and a cold sweat beaded on his forehead. But when he saw that she was unharmed, his expression actually softened.
“Are you okay?”
His voice was faint.
Elena stared at the blood spreading across his side, her mind a complete blank.
Dante took one step toward her.
His knees buckled, and he dropped to the ground.
“Elena…”
He lifted a hand, as if to touch her face.
His fingers hovered in the air for a moment, then fell.
In a low, ragged voice, he said, “I’m sorry.”
The next second, he pitched forward and collapsed.
