He Chose Her Over Me So I Chose Myself Chapter 24
The new fundraising page had gone live at 11:40 p.m.
The delivery confirmation from my lawyer for the revocation notice was clearly time-stamped from one year earlier, at 9:12 a.m. on the morning of my wedding.
An entire year apart.
It wasn’t that they hadn’t seen it.
They had simply been certain that even if I left, I would never really pursue it.
I read the page from beginning to end. The video was the same old promotional reel they had used for years: eight-year-old me standing between Mr. and Mrs. Mercer, twelve-year-old me with tears in my eyes thanking people at a banquet, adult me smiling into the camera.
At the bottom of the page was the same donation link for Camille’s academic project.
Even the placement of the QR code was exactly the same as it had been at the wedding dinner they took from me.
My lawyer called almost at once.
“We’ve preserved the page and the timestamp. We can start by demanding they take it down, or we can go straight to requesting an injunction.”
“Send a formal notice first.”
I opened my old laptop, found the email revoking my authorization and the proof of delivery, and forwarded both to her.
“If they refuse, file.”
There was a pause on the other end.
